Protractors are used to directly measure angular surfaces. The
tools most commonly used are the simple protractor, the protractor
head, and the universal bevel protractor.
Simple protractor. A simple protractor consist of a rectangular;
head graduated un degrees along a semicircle with a blade pivoted
on the center pin. By rotating the blade on the center pin, any
angle from 0 to 180°can be set.
Protractor head. The protractor dead is one of several tools on
the combination square. It has revoling turrets with
direct-reading double graduations a full 0-180°in opposite
directions. This permits direct reading of angles above or below
the blade.
Universal bevel protractor. The universial bevel protractor
consists of a round body with a fixed blade on which a graduated
protractor dial rotates. The turret is xlotted to accommodate a 7
or 12?180 or 300mm) nongraduated blade. The blade and dial may be
rotated as a unit to any desired position and locked in place by
means of the dial clamp nut. The blade may also be independently
extended in either direction from the protractor.
